It may seem untraditional, but for the last six years my husband and my tradition has been to spend Thanksgiving in California. More specifically, wine tasting in California.
This year of travel allowed us to visit several wine trails – Washington, Connecticut, Vermont – but California at Thanksgiving remains our favorite. Some special treats included the Salon Tasting at Swanson Vineyard with a cheese, chocolate and caviar pairing. During the holidays, the setting is exceptionally festive.

But Carmel has streets focused on wine.

You can find Pinot Noir (a lot of it) and Chardonnay in the plenty. Wrath brings both – perfect for your Thanksgiving dinner whether it be turkey or our favorite, crab.

Napa is not to be outdone with a lot of fun on every corner.

And the opportunity to visit with the one and only winemaker Gustavo Brambila — Freddy Rodriquez plays him in the movie Bottle Shock.

Gustavo Wines
are top notch, as they have been for decades. Make sure to visit them and the other boutique California wineries! Hint – the holidays are a perfect time!
